So it’s been all in the press this week about Gaultier’s “tribute” collection to Amy Winehouse, and it’s caused a stir.
Many felt this collection was in bad taste, including Amy’s father who apparently had no idea about the collection.
In my eyes, making a tribute doesn’t mean imitating someone, which is what he did, he should have let the clothes speak for themselves, rather than use the models to create a bad image and generate more press.
When artists / designers etc use the term ‘muse’ they don’t just draw/paint etc that person, they use this as a source of inspiration to create something new, not just replicating.
What were your thoughts? Am I alone?
